Pandanet Go Latin American Team Championship

The Pandanet Go Latin American Team Championship is run by the Ibero American Go Federation and the 2025 edition gathers 13 countries from Latin America and the Caribbean.

Teams are divided into A and B Leagues. Each season two countries will descend from A League into B League and two countries will ascend from B League into A League.

Final match between top two teams in League A is to be played within Latin American Go Congress each year.

Argentina claims its 1st Latin American Team Championship title ever

The final of the 9th Pandanet Go Latin American Team Championship was one of the most exciting moments of the 7th Latin American Go Congress held in Quito, Ecuador during the first days of November.

The teams from Mexico and Argentina reached this stage after finishing first and second, respectively, in the online league phase.

The final match was played in a three-board format with the teams made up of:

Argentina: Fernando Aguilar, Gonzalo Pereira, and Aníbal Gómez.

Mexico: Emil García, Sebastián Ríos, and Jorge López.

The Argentine team won a resounding 3-0 victory and was crowned Latin American champion of the Pandanet Latin American League for the first time in its history.

The victory represents a historic milestone for Argentina, which, despite having reached previous finals in past editions, had never before managed to win the title in the face-to-face final.

The final round of the 8th Pandanet Go Latin American Team Championship pitted Brazil against Chile in a thrilling three-board match during the 6th Latin American Go Congress in Guatemala City. Despite a late-game comeback by Matías Navarro, Chile’s first board, Brazil secured a decisive 2-1 victory, clinching their fifth consecutive title.

Board 1: Helcio Pacheco (BRA, 3d) vs. Matías Navarro (CHI, 2d)
Helcio started strong and maintained a comfortable lead for most of the game. However, a series of tactical miscalculations allowed Matías Navarro to seize the initiative and ultimately force a resignation, securing a crucial point for Chile.

Board 2: Ronaldo Matayoshi (BRA, 3d) vs. Francisco Gonzalez (CHI, 1d)
This match was a rollercoaster ride of fortunes. Ronaldo Matayoshi faced a challenging early game but managed to stabilize the position and gradually gain the upper hand. Laércio Pereira dominated the game from start to finish. His solid play and strategic acumen allowed him to build a significant advantage, ultimately securing a comfortable 32.5-point victory.

With two wins out of three boards, Brazil successfully defended their title and extended their impressive winning streak to five consecutive championships. This victory solidifies Brazil’s position as the dominant force in Latin American Go.

Brazil and Chile to play Pandanet Latin American League final match in Antigua Guatemala

Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala will be the venue of the the 6th Latin American Go Congress where the final match of the 8th Pandanet Go Latin American Team Championship will be played between Brazil and Chile on late October.

The 2024 PGLATC was played from February 4th to June 9th, with 14 teams divided in two leagues in a round robin format for each league.

On the League A, Brazil and Chile finished on the top of the table after a thrilling last round on which Chile beat Brazil and manage to win the tie breaker with Mexico, which finished third.

On the bottom of this League were Peru and Venezuela, which will be descending to the League B for the next season.

On the top of the League B we find Costa Rica and Ecuador, which means this two teams will be playing on the League A for the next season. This will be the first time in many years in which Costa Rica will be playing as a League A team.

Brazil and Peru to play final match of PGLATC 2023 in Punta Cana during 5th Latin American Go Congress

The 7th Pandanet Latin American Team Championship will be decided in the final match between Brazil and Peru, having both finished as top two teams of the A League after the Round Robin stage of this Championship.

The match on three boards will take place at the 5th Latin American Go Congress at Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Peru, which hadn’t seen top places in previous editions, managed to win a seat in the final this year as to contest the Championship title to Brazil, who has won the last three championships in a row.

Led by Aaron Alvarado 4d who has beaten top players like Argentina’s Fernando Aguilar 7d, Peru is in its best shape of all times.

Brazil and Chile will play for the PGLATC at the 4th Latin American Go Congress

The 4th Quzhou Lanke Latin American Go Congress in Buenos Aires, Argentina will be the host of the final match of the 6th Pandanet Go Latin American Team Championship between Brazil and Chile. After two years of online finals, on this 2022 the over the board final is back.

These two countries finished at the top of League A table earning the right to participate in this final match. The three players from each country who will be playing the final are:
